Cherokee Purple Tomato
Cherokee Purple is a pre-1890 Tennessee heirloom reportedly of Cherokee origin, introduced by SESE in 1993, and included in Slow Food USA's Ark of Taste. Large, smooth fruits of 10–12 oz ripen to a unique dark dusky pink-purple color that carries through to the flesh, especially at the stem end. Plants are a shorter indeterminate averaging 5 feet tall and have good resistance to septoria leaf spot; this strain remains the original, shorter-shaped selection, seed-grown and stewarded by Twin Oaks Seed Farm in Louisa, VA.
Cherokee Purple Tomato is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
