The Burgess strain of Buttercup, dating to 1932, is noted for its thick, fine-grained flesh and excellent flavor, producing flattened turban-shaped fruits approximately 4½ by 6½ inches and weighing 4–5 pounds. The dark green rind has slight ribs and a characteristic button on the blossom end.
