Ashley was developed at Clemson in 1956 and is recommended for hot, humid areas where disease resistance is important, with notably good downy mildew resistance. Productive vines yield 7–8 inch dark-green fruits tapered at the stem end, and the variety has been a popular choice throughout the Southeast.
